| Howdy folks...it sure has been awhile. Now that school's unwinding and finals are drawing near, I've decided to make sagacious use of my time and update this old jalopy.
A lot sure has happened in the past two months... with exciting, remarkable, extraordinary, refreshing, and quite fabulous events abounding!! Tragic events as well though, like the end of a great year at college. Like the beginning of a long summer. Like the disbanding of a household with a two year legacy. But I guess as it is, sometimes people just have to take their seperate paths.
Sorry it's late guys, but I want to congratulate the new CA '04-05 Board, I'm confident you guys'll be setting even more records next year. Don't forget me, I'll be back to support the club and you guys next year f'sho! Also, thanks to last year's board, you guys set a level for the club that'll be very hard to reach, much less surpass, but because of you guys the club is headed toward even more success, I know it.
Congrats to all the first years too for making it through. It wasn't too bad now was it? Whether you commuted or dormed, first year is quite an experience that the other three years'll never replace. I hope you all enjoyed it and all the events that happened, having a memorable year is more important than anything else I believe.
Oh man..and to the mighty seniors...i wish you could remain just a little longer! ahhh...I hate to see you guys leave, I feel like I've just met most of you. Now it's true I know more third years than any other, but you fourth years were the wise crones of college! The most experienced, the most relaxed, the closest to freedom from school and the shackles of adult life.
And to all your EAP folks, even those just gone for summer... I'm gonna miss you! Wanna send me a postcard? I think I'll e-mail everyone that's gone to check up on them, I love to hear new experiences!
Besides all that though, lemme leave a quick recap of what's been going on...visually...

Our grand matriarch Kat! and her huge and far reaching brood...can you believe she mothered us all? And did an amazing job...THANKS KAT!!
There's a lot of sibs that are MIA a lot of the time (including me), like Bettie!!(I still need to get a copy of Jaded from you!) its veterans like you that keep us all alive and well, so let's all kick it together more often! Dennis, you too, I know you been busy but we all still see you as the MIA bro, so get back here! Oh yeah, and Ramen, we didn't have time last quarter, but we've all still gotta head to SD and to San Gabriel too for some promised savoring food!
if I've learned one thing we can count on besides the usual qualities of being caring, nurturing, guiding, etc from the Matriarch...i'll tell you, its PROTECTION. shoot, I swear this girl (when not beating us up for no reason) is like a Hawk, dont mess with us or you're messing with CA's own Ms. O.G.!! oh man...and not to mention Mr. O.G., aka James Kwok, is in our family too...awww man...watch out!

Congrats on that one, guys! That's right, my family!!

D3!! we don't get that many chances to collaborate...but you know when we do, even Kat doesn't stand a chance! but of course we'd never turn on her, since according to our 'leader in dirty', Ramen, he learned everything he knows from her although perhaps James is in a better position to learn! HHAHAH just kidding! but thanks bros, for always holdin it down for me whenever i needed ya!! We still owe C4 a beatdown at bowling! (that's right, 3 on 4!)

C4!! Thats C as in CRAZY, and thats what you four definitely are! I think Irvine would not be the same without you, and when I say Irvine, I mean Irvine the CITY, not just the school...that is the extent of craziness emanating from you four. With the amount of excitement you guys bring around, Irene and your 'let's go out and do ANYTHING' attitude and very cool british intonations, Roo, with your powerful bear hugs and freakin scary running/chasing speed and asian-washedness, Michelle with your villianous laughter, minigolfing prowess, and anime expertise, and of course Jess, with your get low skills, your flashy styles, and most importantly with your CRAZINESS influencing all those poor people and being the leader in craziness all the time..., Irvine, no, all of socal, doesn't stand a chance....
Moving down this somewhat poorly chronologically-organized line...congrats to all the winners of titles at CA semiformal, Wear that sash proudly! Heheh so this year, yours truly actually received the Coolest Personality title...thanks everyone!! Man, I was extremely surprised!!

I love CA!! and congrats to my co-winner, Caroline the Great, who's cool personality is definitely known to everyone (sorry, dont have a pic)! She's abroad in China right now, and has a very cool mailing list where she's keeping everyone updated on how it is there, tell me if you want on and I'll e-mail her your e-mail!

Here are the fellas (plus Jen) of CAUCI setting up for the all-UC dance competition aka FIVE, i think the pix look really awesome/artistic, nice job albee! man i felt so empowered that night with my credentials hanging around my neck and my advance blue bracelet that let me fly through security like a VIP!! if i remember correctly, i think i had someone to impress that night...heheh yes yes, May 1st, what a memorable time...shhh...

The infamous East Wind Chinese Group! From the back there's Karl the Goat, Austin the Vulture, me the Owl, Eleasa the (jolly) Walrus, and Pamela the Baboon. We, Dong Fong Chui, led the our fun-filled class through elite membership and excellent skit performances. Every one of us was an asset to the group, even our sleepyheaded Pinyin Master! Unfortunately, by spring quarter, one our class's contending groups, the Lawrence/Greg Musical Band of Surprise may have swept our proud status away...however, I know we still all had the best of times! Chinese was the best class I've had here at UCI, and its because of a great teacher and great classmates like you guys! I love you guys, Dong Fong Chui!!
And when I say that, yes, I even mean the guys of our group, and here's proof! Rest assured, everyone, that is the kind of friendly or perhaps brotherly love you feel for someone...nothing more! The Men of Dong Fong Chui:

Also I wanna thank Phoebes and Ron from my second quarter group too, you guys are freakin AWESOME!! Phoebe, thanks for lookin' out for me and making my corner special too , and Ron, for the many many times we just kicked it before class started and for introducing me to Tenko's (and for getting me hooked on FMA)

This quarter was also great because I actually got to have a JJ2K4 with JoAnna! I don't think I know a busier person! Or a truer friend! People, the reason I call hanging out with Jo a JJ2K4 is because this was like the only time we chilled in the year 2004! And yes indeed we had a JJ2K3 day too! Because its so unfortunately rare that maybe its fortunate after all because it's good quality time and highly anticipated! I'm glad that I've got to run into you during all these random events when you're with your sisters; Pi Phi's are the best!! (Quick shoutout to Kristine right now too, hey Kris, we don't have a single pic together! Kris is one of the first CA people I met and one of the reasons I stayed! Indeed, it was her and Kat's ...notable... interaction) I know I'll see you guys all over the place next quarter too!
Thanks for the talks and the all the...man-bashing advice Jo! Just kidding!!

And now we have our fighting KiDs, the Krazy Irvine Dragons. Racing up in norcal was a blast guys, even tho I did something very foolish. I'm sincerely sorry about that to everyone that suffered as a result of my actions. But I'm glad the team was able close and come together during the race! Here's a picture of the team sportin our badass T-Shirts designed by the man, Harry:

Coincidentally, I'm the only one turning around in this pic...heh heh heh. Below is another pic of the team at semi-formal. We're all in our SHA! ready positions, but personally I think it looks like the women of the team are preparing to strike the men down...you can see Patter and Selena double teaming me with malicious glee...

Did I mention 1st place in the college division heat? that's right!

next up here's a shout to my people in the hometown, SF! I was only back for a week of summer, but I'm glad I got to kick it with ya'll. Say, what happened TS? one absent and one too busy to talk, attendance is horrible! We shall reconvene when I return! Thanks for the attempt tho, J. Here's a shot from Elo's farewell dinner, in it are the Santa Cruisers (haha pretty clever huh? Santa Cruisers...):

Duck, when you're not busy earning big dough, we'll go grab some lunch and talk about old and new times alright? And here's our group for the night:

Once again, I'm very glad to have seen all you guys, it's good to know we all have a hometown crew to go back to whenever we're home, homies that'll be there for you even when you haven't seen or talked to them for months. Folks that are finally taking wing from City and going to far off colleges, you'll learn the same appreciation I feel for you guys soon enough!
Speaking of dinners, another highly successful one was of D3's very own Ramen! I'm glad we got to be with you the night before your special day to celebrate and also to be there for you to get that personalized CAKE during semi-formal! Here's one of the tables (the UCIers) at dinnertime:

Oh yeah, so did everyone go to CA Culture Night? In case you missed me, one of the hardest to miss star performers, here's a pic of me and my ninja/pirate gang:

OK fine, if you missed me, you're excused, since we were the backstage crew. But those shadows creepin around and pushing props around were us!! the props crew! That's where I met my boys John n Erik...you can tell they're hella pimp right? Haha GO PROPS CREW!! and where's our cheesecake Stacy?? Oh yeah, and a big thanks to Stacy too, who's graduated I think in your own way, you were a mom to everyone, and we all appreciate your constant care and looking after! Shout to 'big daddy' Bryan Prado too, who was also on the backstage regulating with his fancy com-gear!
I also wish I had a pic with all the CA interns of '04, we were quite a team ladies n gents! Justin, Adrienne, Kevin, Mike, Tiffany, and Jen, I'm mighty glad to have gotten to work with you guys. If I get ahold of one, I'll put it here, but for now, I just wanna congratulate all of you guys that moved onto the Board and warn everyone that it's gonna be a crazy year cuz I know these people...and I'm scared...
Edit: Found a pic! Tiff and Jen are missing though! Will definitely post a pic of all of us when I find one!

Oh yeah, I also want a pic with the UCI Lowellites, Laney, Justin, where are you guys at?! We shoulda snapped one at Elo's! And now Cheryl is transferring and Kelly's going to Japan (I think), will we ever all assemble?! If we do, this space is reserved for us! lowell pride! L!!
Finished, finally. There's one last big announcement I wanted to make, but I had to get all the above off my chest first (that's what I get for procrastinating on updating huh?). This may seem a bit like old news to most of you guys, but I want to make this officially known and announced so there's no question about it. As most CA-ers might've noticed, Jess and I have been good friends, hitting it off really well since we met and burning daylight many nights after by hanging out, talking, and getting to know each other better. In the beginning we met up at CA meetings, always looking forward to the next week to see each other again, but at same time still being free and social at CA by meeting new people and hanging out with friends. A few rumors were flying around but I think that since we weren't all over each other during meetings, no one was too positive on our status or intentions. Time passed and we got to be really tight, often sharing close thoughts with each other and having fun at parties and events.
On May 1st, the same day of FIVE, Jess and I became officially together. That's two months to the date, believe it or not! A fabulous two months, two months of high flying happiness and excitement. And definitely a fair share of craziness!! A lot of the craziness just comes from both of us just being who we are, because we constantly shock each other speechless with identical thoughts and actions at the most unlikely of times. Our one month gifts turned out to be almost exactly the same and we had hadn't mentioned what we were doing to each other or to anyone else at all!
Anyway, I know a lot of people don't want to read about mushy things, but I could care less and I'll do it anyway! Well, I would, but since Jess also doesn't have a higher appreciation for lovey-dovey, gooey, mush-saturated words either, I'll put away my moonlight written poetry, banjo, and gondola paddle, and just count you guys fortunate! And I'll instead dedicate these next few pix to my fabulous babepumpkin!! jolly!

OK, who's thinking "WTF" raise their hand...well lemme tell you guys, this ONE pic is of extreme significance to our relationship! As a matter of fact, this is the night it all started. For the more perceptive folks in the audience, you'll notice that Jess is in the rightmost of the picture! On this very night, Ramen had arranged a bowling night of sorts for D3 and C4, and afterwards we had bit of an event in the parking lot of Lollicup. Here's Ramen's old entry describing this, as well as a family gathering at Kat's a few days before. (As a side note, in the group picture, I'm not holding Jess's arm, I'm holding the corner of the table, although perhaps I wished differently...) Anyway, after the night at parking lot, me and Ramen ro-sham-bo'd to decide who would drive C4 back to campus, and I lost. Because of this, I got to spend time talking to Jess, who was in my passenger seat. I had a lot on my mind at that time, and that very night I realized how liberating talking to her could be. From that point on...I kept on talking to her and became drawn and addicted to her "yin" personality. Before we knew it, we were chillin on the regular and meeting each other's friends.

You guys can check out Jess's xanga for a lot more of pix with friends from events all throughout last quarter, and I'm in some too! So with all that activity going on, before we knew it, it was already the time of FIVE:

And from then on...it's been the best of times and I haven't been happier!

My twin J! She's obviously the evil twin tho, because no one would doubt I'm the good one, right? HEHEHE...

Our day of matching styles....

Thanks for reading everyone, and I hope you enjoyed the long, long ride! I'm glad that I'll get to see some of you over summer since I'm in socal right now, but a lot of you I won't see till fall, Jess included. I seriously can't wait to see everyone again! Enjoy your summer while it lasts! Till next time, friends.
HAPPY TWO MONTHS JESS!!! I miss you! |
